God, I look to you.

This last week of reading and S.O.A.P-ing: Walking In Wisdom by Love God Greatly Ministries, several things have been highlighted, “so-to-speak” in my heart. Proverbs 1:1-7 held the most weight of them all.

1. “The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, King of Israel: To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight, to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity; to give prudence to the simple; knowledge and discretion to the youth-Let the wise hear increase in learning, and the ones who understands obtain guidance to understand a proverb and a saying, the words of the wise and their riddles. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction”.

Words popped out to me as I read the scripture over and over; speaking to my spirit and I could hear my soul cry out; “I wanna go deeper”, “I want to be able to defend my faith (bare witness)”, “I want peace with direction in certain areas”, “I want to hear you speak my Lord”, “help me with what to say”, “help me to ask the right questions”, “help me to be a better listener”.

As my spirit prayed in agreement with this scripture, I realized the lyrics of the song playing in the background….(thank you, Holy Spirit)

God I look to You

I won’t be overwhelmed

Give me vision to see things like You do

God I look to You

You’re where my help comes from

Give me wisdom, You know just what to do

And I will love You Lord my strength

And I will love you Lord my shield

And I will love You Lord my rock

Forever all my days I will love you God

I realized as I read this scripture again that often times there are words in scripture that yet seemingly so simple, have great meaning; so I circled them because I wanted the fullness of this word in my heart; the first word, “equity” meaning, the quality of being fair and impartial. Sometimes I find that I can be partial in this walk; searching at times and speaking only to other believers, simply because it feels peaceful and comfortable. How (fair) is that? The people that need Him the most are often set aside or ignored because of our fear and comfort. (Humbling)…

The word “Prudence” meaning cautiousness, wisdom, common sense (shrewdness). This scripture tells us to GIVE prudence to the simple. The simple… the lost. We, or at least speaking for myself can be a little (too much) when speaking to a lost, confused or grieving person willing to listen. (Wisdom)…..

The word “Discretion” meaning, the quality of behaving or speaking in such a way as to avoid causing offense or revealing private information. Have you ever overheard anyone joking about a lost person or group of people and out loud shouting, “y’all need Jesus!” How do they think a lost person would receive that?

Matthew 10:16 tell us, “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.” KJV

The most valuable thing I have taken from week 1 is the reminder that we can dress like a Christian, walk like a Christian, go to church like a Christian etc.. ; but unless we have the Word of God running through our veins we can be very harmful and dangerous to others who seek truth, we can actually be a stumbling block. I don’t want to be a stumbling block. My prayer this week has been; “Father, I only want to say what you want me to say and do what you want me to do.” I know that this is the key to walking in peace and security. I want my life to count for the glory of God and that’s it.

Let it be so Lord. ❤
