There were these days as I stepped into faith……
I had just encountered GOD and the only direction my feet were pointed to were towards Him……
I found myself not ever wanting to look back, not ever wanting to take a glance at what was behind “lest I turn into a pillar of salt” (Gen 19:26)
How could I not fear that I was leaving my own family & friends behind?
Was my trust in Him really that strong?
Could I do this?
My fear was great until I learned to trust Him. I knew I could trust Him, the question that lingered inside as I slept was; do I trust myself?
I specifically remember one of my spiritual mothers telling me that she prayed psalm 91 over her whole family every day. She told me that in the prayer she removed all the (I) and (Me’s) and replaced them with (us) and (we’s) as she prayed for her while family.
It’s a promise from God. Walk around your home and pray this prayer in each room and declare that HIS HUGE OUTSTRETCHED ARMS ARE PROTECTING YOU & YOUR FAMILY.
1-13 We who sit down in the High God’s presence,
spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow,
Say this: “GOD, you’re our refuge.
we trust in you and we are safe!”
That’s right—he rescues us from hidden traps,
shields us from deadly hazards.
His huge outstretched arms protect us—
under them we’re perfectly safe;
his arms fend off all harm.
Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night,
not flying arrows in the day,
Not disease that prowls through the darkness,
not disaster that erupts at high noon.
Even though others succumb all around,
drop like flies right and left,
no harm will even graze us.
we’ll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance,
watch the wicked turn into corpses.
Yes, because GOD’s our refuge,
the High God our very own home,
Evil can’t get close to us,
harm can’t get through the door.
He ordered his angels
to guard us wherever we go.
If we stumble, they’ll catch us;
their job is to keep us from falling.
we’ll walk unharmed among lions and snakes,
and kick young lions and serpents from the path.
14-16 “If you hold on to me for dear life,” says GOD,
“I’ll get you out of any trouble.
I’ll give you the best of care
if you’ll only get to know and trust me.
Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times;
I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party.
I’ll give you a long life,
give you a long drink of salvation!”
